If you’re ready to take your skills to the next level—or start a career where hard work truly pays off—the Carpenters Local 322 Apprenticeship Program is your path forward. No student debt. No sitting behind a desk. Just real experience, professional training, and a union that’s got your back.

Earn While You Learn

From your very first day, you’ll be working and getting paid on real job sites. Our program combines full-time, on-the-job training with professional instruction at one of the best training centers in the country—so you gain experience, not debt. Your wages increase as your skills grow.

Top-Tier Training from the Pros

You won’t just be learning from a textbook—you’ll be trained by experienced union carpenters who’ve spent years mastering the trade. Whether it’s framing, concrete, interior systems, or commercial work, you’ll get hands-on instruction that prepares you for anything the job throws your way.

Union Pay and Benefits

Union carpenters earn some of the best wages in the industry—plus full health insurance, a pension, and retirement savings. These aren’t just perks—they’re your foundation for long-term stability and success, whether you’re 20 or 40.

Safety Comes First

Union job sites lead the way in safety standards—and we make sure every apprentice is fully trained to protect themselves and their crew. From fall protection to jobsite awareness to ICRA protocols, you’ll gain the knowledge and habits that keep people safe. Because nothing matters more than getting home at the end of the day.

Brotherhood & Sisterhood

At Local 322, you’re not just a worker—you’re part of a union of thousands of skilled, trained professionals who believe in lifting each other up. That solidarity is real. When you join, you gain more than just a career—you gain a crew, a network, and a voice.

Work Pride

You won’t just punch a clock—you’ll build things that last. From schools and stadiums to bridges and hospitals, union carpenters help shape the world around us. And you’ll be able to point to your work and say, “I built that.”

Steps to Join

Apprenticeship is a path to a lifelong career with great wages and advancement opportunities without incurring debt and student loans. EARN as you LEARN is the model of apprenticeship. Once enrolled in the apprenticeship, our carpenters begin a 16-week apprenticeship, completing one week of training each quarter over a 4-year period. The rest of the time? On the job working and advancing towards apprenticeship completion after 7,000 hours worked on the job. Our members not only get to avoid educational debt but also receive a member-supported stipend of $350 for each completed week of training with on-time arrival. We will pay YOU $5600 and credit to your health insurance to learn valuable skills to keep you employed.

It doesn’t stop there. Once a member, you can access multiple upgrade classes to earn additional skills and certifications, like operating a telehandler, performing rigging work, and learning how to weld.

Do you need to have skills to join? Absolutely not. Some members begin their apprenticeship with previous construction experience, but this is not required. Contractors understand when sponsoring a new member into the apprenticeship that on-the-job training will be done, and many members join the apprenticeship with limited or no experience.

*Credit may be granted for previous work experience or training.

16 weeks of classes include:

OSHA, fall protection, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (scissor and boom lift operation), scaffold erection, First Aid CPR, printreading, layout, wood framing, rafters, stair building, concrete intro, elevations, column and prefabricated form systems, shoring, radius work, interior systems work (metal stud framing, sheetrocking, and acoustical ceilings), doors and hardware, interior & exterior finish including firestop and healthcare construction.

Truthfully, I struggled alot to find my purpose in life throughout my teens and early 20's. After HS, I framed houses non-union for cash but it was always lacking fulfillment. When my son was born, I knew I needed direction/support to set up a better future for us. 5½ years later - that future is already here! My career transformed from Carpentry to Safety Management and I'm able to support a family of 4 on just 1 income. Today I have a meaningful purpose which I'll never take for granted.
